right out of the box. For a resin solar light it was quite substantial, unlike previous products we tried to order through Lowe's, which not only arrived broken but were, shall we say, a female dog to return? They are rugged and far more substantial than others we tried. While one can cheap it out and buy other kinds lower, this one diffuses the light in all directions so that when you sit out at night you have soft light vs a bright white light blazing in your face. This counts. More...the first night time we put them out, we got the downpour that follows several days of high, humid heat where we live. The new lights SHRUGGED OFF this downpour and worked perfectly, no leaks, no sputters, no need to shake it or other dumb stuff. The next night it gave a downpour once again and the lights blazed happily, ignoring rain and casting a gentle, happy, dumb fluck glow over the new patio. BUY THESE!

I really like this Solar Light Rock!! Bigger and brighter than I expected!! Seems to be quite durable... time will tell. I put in on a step by my front door and aimed it toward the walkway which is off to the side. Lights it up nicely!! It was pitch black at night but this rock light does the trick!!

The rock light is awesome! I had put it on the edge of my koi pond to highlight the waterfall. It worked great! One night a raccoon must have needed a drink and knocked it into the pond. I thought for sure that it was a goner, but I retrieved it, shook out the water in the lens and set it back in place hoping that it would work again. It Worked!!! After floating in my pond all night and taking on water in the lens it is still working great! Love it, you won't be disappointed.
