No need to heat it up. All you have to do is scoop the ice cream out. Just don't put it in the dishwasher

works really well, easy to scoop and stuff. Only thing that's inconvenient is that you can't put it in the dishwasher. I guess that's because it has some antifreeze liquid inside it, which would explode or something in the dishwasher.

When you receive this ice cream scoop, the tag will say not to put it in the dishwasher. They are not kidding. DO NOT DO THAT. I am giving this scoop 4 stars because it continues to scoop ice cream even after my husband killed it in the dishwasher, and it worked like a dream the 1 use I got out of it before that. Now the shiny silver finish is gone and it is not very non-stick, but still works much better than a regular spoon. I wish I had realized it was not dishwasher safe before I purchased - if you live in a home with non-instructions-reading men, this is a big drawback since it looks just like regular silverware. I plan to buy another one and take better care of it this time.

Best ice cream scooper ever!! Super inexpensive!! Scoops like non other the hardest ice cream comes up with ease... Highly recommend... I've bought so many food network, Martha Stewart... Walmart, target,.... And this one is better than those!!! Make sure to hand wash only.

Just like the other reviews, no problem with this ice cream scooper. It's not dishwasher safe but that's because it's got an antifreeze solution in it. Honestly it cuts through ice cream super smooth. My only worry is that it'll pit and corrode in the cup of spoon, but so far so good.

I have had one of these scoops for over 10 years and love it.. My buddy was over the other night and we decided to have ice cream and he used it to scoop the hard pack, and could not believe how easy it was. I told him that if the ice cream is really frozen sometimes I just dip it in water between scoops. My advice--- do not wash in dishwasher... Hand rinse it under hot running water after scooping, wipe dry and put away for next time...I was shocked that I found the same brand and decided to order him one... :)

Works well. I had one of these style years ago from Pampered Chef and always wanted another. I'd say it works as well as that one did. Only issue is the chrome finish has blistered and discolored after a few uses. This isn't surprising to me though, as I've had other kitchen utensils with this type of finish do the same thing. Have only hand washed it. Doesn't affect the function, just the aesthetic.

Sturdy. One piece of sturdy aluminum. The only caveat is it can’t be machine washed. It is filled inside the handle and scoop-head with some insulating liquid which stops the scoop head from getting cold and cutting through even the hardest packed ice cream. Hand wash only. But for the piece works as well as some $30 models.

I’ve missed this product in my life. I have used the Pampered Chef one for years and they recalled it and stopped selling it. I believe this is exactly the same, just rebranded. It works flawlessly and with ease. I’ve never had as good of an ice cream scooper in my life. Nothing compares! Do not wash it in the dishwasher. Ever. And you will be good! :)
