The media could not be loaded.  We got this for our 4 year old yellow lab. He is always skeptical of new things and is always super cautious, but this he used right from the get go. The dispenser is really easy to setup and comes with step by step instructions on how to setup up the clock, oz you want your dog to have, and meal time zones. It took me about 20 minutes to set it up, If you are buying for someone who is not amazing with technology they should be able to figure it out pretty easy. I love the fact that this comes with two different power option! You can use batteries or plug it into the wall. We decided to plug it into the wall because we dont want to deal with the batteries going out. We have had it for two days now and it has worked seamlessly. The food we use is the Kirkland brad from Costco and the auger seems to do just fine with that size of food. The fact that you can schedule the time and food amount to disperse is so life changing for us, we no longer have to worry about someone feeding our dog if we are out of town or running around. Gives me piece of mind that my doggo will be taken care of!Pros:- Battery operated or Power chord- Easy to use and operate- Schedule times for feeding and food size amount- Sleek/Quality design- Does not make loud noises when dispensing foodCons:- Front plate seems flimsy, shouldn’t be an issue if its on level ground- I wish you could pair to your phone for monitoring

I'm really pleased with this automated pet feeder. Since I started using this, I've had the peace of mind from knowing that our 2 dogs would get their meals wether I'm home or not. I used to just leave extra dry dog food in a bowl if I was expecting to be away from home at mealtime. Now, this feeder keeps our dogs will have fresh kibble when it's time to eat.Although I've been spending more time at home lately, I still like how this pet feeder offers manual control. I've never had a machine like this before and I wish I had one sooner.I like how this plugs in but has a battery back up. We haven't experienced any power outages yet so I don't know how often I need to replace the batteries.

The media could not be loaded.  This is an excellent automatic feeder. It allows you the option of manual or automatic feeding (just hit the button to start and stop dispensing for manual feeding); setting the clock and timer for automatic feeding is intuitive with the clearly-labeled, common-sense buttons (there is a manual, but we didn't need it to set up auto feeding), or you can use the preset times (our dogs aren't early birds so the 6 am feeding doesn't work for us lol). It holds a lot of food and doesn't jam like some do. We've been using it for 14 days and it has never failed to properly dispense 2 meals each day. It has an indicator message if it gets low on food.My favorite feature on this, and the one I chose to show in the video, is the slow-feed feature. One of my pups gobbles food and tends to choke; this dispenses a couple of tablespoons at a time, forcing my dog to slow down and providing a little mental stimulation while anticipating the next "drop". We love that feature. I've used cheaper versions of auto feeders, but they haven't had this feature. They've also been difficult to set and to see. This feeder costs more, but having such a clear, easy to read display and intuitive controls is so much less frustrating than cheaper models-- it's well worth the cost. My dog loves it and has taken to laying next to it about half an hour before dinner, waiting for it to come to life and dispense food. It's cute. The one thing that took us awhile to master is quantity. We normally feed our pups 1/2 cup of food 2x/day (4 oz). However, this feeder uses weight, not volume, so it dispensed more food than we wanted. We ended up landing on setting it for about 2.6 oz, but if you normally feed your dogs a cup of food it may end up being more than you had in mind. The manual has details about that, but it just takes a bit of experimenting to figure out what to set it on (it depends on your particular kibble). This is a fantastic feeder, and while pricier than some, so easy to use and so reliable that it's worth the cost.Fwiw, it plugs in but also has battery backup in case of a power failure.

Original Review: We have two cats and they go through some dry cat food. We had been using a bowl, but my boys would forget to feed them. So I purchased a cheap gravity feeder. The food didn't come down leaving the tray empty. Then I seen this Gamma2 Petmate Nano automatic feeder. I read each review and watched the video and was instantly impressed. The feeder comes well packaged with each part wrapped and protected. It takes but a few minutes to set it up. The hopper is quite large and holds 7 1/2 lb of food. I had less than half a bag of cat food and it didn't come close to filling it. The tray too is quite large, whereas my other one was too small. The feeder takes 4 AA batteries that serve to power the feeder and maintain the settings in the event of a power failure. Normally the feeder runs off 5 VDC supplied from the wall adaptor (phone charger). There are presets for the meal times and the meal size, but each of these can be changed to meet your pet's needs and feed times. There is also a button for manual feed to dispense kibble when needed. The instructions say to use the manual feed to judge how much food to dispense at meal times. There's a button to set it to dispense slowly for pets that gobble. It takes a bit of tweaking to get the feeder set to your needs, but it is so worth it. We just love our new Gamma2 Petmate Nano feeder. If you have small cats or dogs, you will love this feeder too. It is definitely ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, I would give it 6 if I could.UPDATE 3/28/2021: When I first set up the automatic feeder, I decided not to put batteries in it. They are only for loss of power/backup, right? Well yesterday I was wondering why there was no food coming out so I decided to have a look. The display was blinking - loss of power. So I decided I had better install the 4 AA batteries after all. The other quirk is the food didn't come down to the front of the tray. I found a piece of scrap board and set the body of the feeder on it, leaving the tray at more of an angle. The food now comes out and flows to the front of the tray. I really like the Gamma2 and highly recommend it.I hope this proves helpful. Thanks for Reading - ✌😉

I have another Gamma product for storing my dog's food so when I saw this automated feeder I figured It'd be perfect for my cat! For some reason, I seem to always forget to fill his food dish on my way out the door in the morning, but this feeder has solved that problem. Plus, I can comfortably leave the cat for a longer weekend and know that his automated feeder will provide fresh food for him each day :) It was very easy to assemble, program, and fill with food.

This is a great automated pet feeder for pets up to 35 pounds. While it could feed larger pets, you would need to refill the feeder quite often because of the volume of food that larger pets consume, defeating some of the convenience that this feeder offers. The feeder comes disassembled. Assembly consisted of placing the components into place, taking only about 5 minutes. Primary power is supplied by AC, using a USB to micro-USB cord. There is battery backup in case of power outage. The four AA batteries are not included. The feeder has a display screen and numerous buttons that are used to set various functions. After setting the time, you then set whatever meal options you want to use for your pet. You can either use one of the preset meal options or customize your own meal options. If one of the six preset meal options are suitable, then you simply press the Preset Meals button and cycle through the presets to select the one that you want. Once selected, the setup is complete. There is a chart in the manual that describes each preset. Custom meals options include programming up to 6 feeding times per day and programming the meal size. The meal size ranges from 0.20 to 10.00 ounces, in 0.25 ounce increments. The weight measurement can be changed from ounces to grams if that is preferred. The feeder has a scale that ensures that the food is discharged at the correct weight. One of the features is the ability to discharge the food slowly, rather than all at once. This is great for pets that do not savor their meals, but instead, gobble it up too quickly. There is also a manual discharge button that can be used between meals. In the event of a complete power failure, including the batteries, the feeder will lose all programming. A nice feature is that upon regaining power, the feeder’s default feeding schedule will start ensuring that pets still get some amount of food.I set the feeder for three feedings of 2 ounces each feeding, and it operated as expected. The feeder is quiet, and the food discharge rate is consistent. The manual discharge and slow feeding features work as they should.

Uses precise weight measurement for auger drive to dispense food which is far superior to my other feeder with plastic fingers to drop food that made erratic feeding as kibble would stick between fingers. Very easy to program and change times and amount. Runs on USB power with battery backup.Excellent product would order again if it broke today. Has been running two months flawlessly.

I’m very happy with this dog feeder. I’m at work every day so I can’t feed him at 3pm when he regularly eats. I tried 7 other dog/cat feeders and they would advertise that they were capable of larger sized kibbles. Mine are 1/2” to 3/4” kibbles. This is the only feeder that works with that size. That being said, however, it still sometimes will jam and not provide adequate food. I fixed this by choosing the 3 meals per day feed presetting and I modified the the meal times for 2:55, 3:00, and 3:05, at 3oz per meal. This makes it so if it jammed on one feeding I know my dog won’t go starving. Another flaw is that the settings only allow for one meal size no matter how many meals per day. It also allows for you to set up to 10oz per meal but only will give 8oz. So it’s just weird that they would make anything over 8oz an option. All in all it’s been reliable for over a month. I check the food level when I get home from work to see if my dog was fed the correct amount. It’s easy to see after you’ve gone through a few feedings. My dog loves it. I would recommend this to anyone with a larger breed dog using dry food with large kibbles.

This feeder works great. With 6 possible feeding times and an adjustable size of a serving, this feeder allows much flexibility. This worked perfectly for a 3 day weekend away and kept my 2 cats fed and happy. When I am home I can program it for fewer feedings to supplement the canned food I give them. It is easy enough to program once I have done it a few times. With the auger system to dispense the food my cats have not been able to jiggle the mechanism to access more food and with the larger capacity bin it is too heavy for them to turn over to break into it! I have found this feeder to be a very good investment, my cats aren't afraid of it and I think they like it!

Edit update: I've had this about 6 months now. It is very reliable, easy to program, and holds about 1 weeks worth of food. I love this item except for one issue: the dispensing mechanism is a rubber spiral in the base of the hopper, and my large kibble dog food has torn up the rubber. It is still dispensing accurately, but half the rubber spiral has torn free and the other half is splitting, which means I have to replace it.I highly recommend this item still, but recommend that you stick to small/medium animal foor instead of large breed food for this particular hopper.Bought for a dog that gets hunger pukes and can't go more than 4-5 hours without eating. This was super easy to set up, has a battery back up in case of power outage, and locks out a persistant dog attempting to get in. The hoper holds about 5-6 days worth of food for my 95 lbs dog.

It works like it is suppose to. This is our 3rd auto feeder and I think this one may last a while. I really like the auger for it moves the kibble nice. Also the dog has some room for her mug. Others have about 50% access. Now on the other one we liked it had a bowl that could easily be lifted out for cleaning. Etc. This one has plastic clips that need to be depressed to be removed. We'll see about it's longevity. The clock and settings are super easy, intuituve. The letters are very large and easily readable.I like this product and given your situation you may like it as well...

I recently took my cat to the vet. He had to get his annual shots. He’s gained a few pounds since the last time he was there for his last shots. I had a feeling that the talk from the vet was coming and sure enough it did. I decided I need to do something about portion control and thought that a automatic pet feeder would be a good start.Because my dog likes to eat cat food, it can be difficult to come up with times to put the food down when he’s not around. However, there are times during the day that I knew I could set the timer to work for the cat, the dog, and me.The pet feeder comes with a very comprehensive manual. It not only has pictures but also guides the user through the different steps. I found it to be relatively easy. After assembling the set I just needed to pick the times and decide on how much food to deliver at each meal time. After I had those pieces of information, I was able to plug them into the feeder. The feeder has a digital screen and buttons that are clearly labeled. The feeder looks a lot like the self feeder that I had before this. I like how much food the reservoir holds as I am not filling it up daily. I compared this one to some like that and I am so glad I didn’t choose that option. The biggest difference between my previous self feeder and this one that this is automatic and black in color versus white. But the reservoir looks like what I used to have. I think this is good for the cat too because he does know that it’s the feeder and it’s helped him to make that transition. Now, we just continue on his fairly stress free cat diet and hopefully by the next time we go to the vet we will get a better report card.
