My father-in-law is recently divorced and is clueless in the kitchen. He loves fried potatoes and asked me if I knew of a kitchen gadget that could slice potatoes super thin. I told him that he needed a mandoline and he asked if I'd pick one out for him and order. I know OXO Good Grips makes top quality kitchen gadgets that come highly recommended by America's Test Kitchen. Needless to say, once I went through the instructions with him, he's been using it like a pro! He loves it and can't stop thanking me for picking this out. It's easy to use, easy to clean and sturdiness to last him forever.

I've gone through a number of mandolines, but this one is pretty optimal. Sharp, easy to work with, good size cutting area, handles are well placed, variety of cuts. My only issue with this is that the julienne slices are pretty widely disparate, not a smooth range of sizes. Small complaint. This is pretty wonderful.

Easy to use and easy to clean. Blades are not that sharp. The biggest problem is the product description. The images show the large julienne blades at 3/8", but the actual product has 1/4" blades. The blades must also be wiped dry or they will eventually rust. The spring in the food holder is too stiff. Other than that, a good product.

I prefer this mandoline over the Zyliss I had for years. I like how the blade stores inside the machine and you don’t need separate blades for different thicknesses. There’s a dial that adjusts the thickness so easily. You can also lock the blade for storage and not worry about getting cut when taking it out to use. The hand guard is much better than the Zyliss, which caused me to cut my fingers several times when the guard would catch and my hand kept moving. 😫 I use a mandoline a few times a month and this one is perfect for me and keeps my fingers safe.

I have used the OXO steel mandoline 1.0 for many years. When it gave up, I replaced it with the new 2.0 model. The changes are fantastic. The first major improvement is the blade movement mechanism. There is now a lock feature that completely hides the blade. There is no way for accidents when storing because of this feature. Second, there are fewer removable parts, so it is easier to clean. Third, the legs are stronger and much more functional, making it easier to put a little pressure on it when slicing hard veggies...

I love this tool!Bought it last spring, but hadn’t used it much til now. I just did 6 pounds of potatoes for a big Gratin party dish and it worked a treat.I love the solid stainless steel construction. Easy to wash and clean ... and the fractions of an inch adjustment is precise and flexible. I’m not usually an Oxo fan, but might become one after this.I’ve read reviews here that some people didn’t like the Food Holder but I thought it was wonderful w potatoes. It’s sized right so it doesn’t go off track.And as for the remaining last bits of veggies that you can’t run thru? This is an issue w every mandolin. If it bugs you that much, try getting a slicing attachment for your Cuisinart....? oh no wait, they often have a bit left that won’t go thrums well.So just suck it up and compost those little scraps.

I love the built in safety features. You can dial the knob back and actually lock the device. The food pusher is large enough to cover the food and the cutting blade. It has little grippers and it holds the food securely if you push it down firmly. It’s worth the money!

This is a great tool I use the mandoline mostly for shredding and slicing and julienning vegetables for salads. Oxo did a great job of designing this tool. It's easy to use and easy to clean. I have no difficulty storing it in one of my kitchen drawers. It will shred cabbage and other vegetables paper thin.If you're going to be using a mandoline slicer, also buy a cut resistant glove because the hand guards that come with them are not suitable for all applications.I read the reviews here before buying the mandoline and I see that the hand guard is criticized by several reviewers. I think that may be because their applications are poorly suited to the use of the hand guard. In practice, I use the hand guard for everything except when starting to shred a large piece of vegetable like a quarter of a cabbage. In those cases, I use the cut resistant glove to start shredding, then when the cabbage is sliced small enough, I switch to using the hand guard.After a bit of experimentation, I found the hand guard to be useful for almost every application. Nevertheless, I do not consider a cut resistant glove to be optional when using mandolines. I believe they are required. Good ones cost only about ten dollars and can prevent a serious injury.I keep finding new uses for the mandoline. And I even bought a second mandoline to keep on handy on my countertop. It's the Oxo one handed model that is small and light weight.

I don't understand any bad reviews. This mandoline does what it's supposed to do. It's super easy to set up, easy to clean, and so sharp that I lost the tip to my thumb. Do yourself a favor and respect the blade. Use the spring-loaded food pusher...it works nicely for most, if not all, food items you would want to slice and will save you from having to visit the ED during a pandemic. I highly recommend this mandoline. It's very sturdy and I don't anticipate having to replace it, but, if I had to, I'd buy the same one.

This is the mandoline to end all mandolines. Seriously all you need is this one and you can do anything in life. Julienne, crinkle cut, even waffle cuts. Slicing is so much easier now with OXO mandoline. The blade is extremely sharp so be careful. Also it's very sturdy so you don't have to worry about slipping. The handle that grips the vegetable is extremely useful. No more worrying about cutting my hands AND you can slice to the very last part. Overall another great product design from OXO. Storing the unit is very nice too.Just reminder to wipe down your mandoline after washing as leftover water may cause it to rust on the bolt part.
