The stainless steel leaves with their honeycomb pattern slide apart easily until it’s opened up into a full-size colander. It stays open with its full-sized shape when in use so you can safely steam, strain or serve from it without risk of it collapsing. Despite there being no flat base, the colander can actually stand upright quite well and without spilling its contents because of the stability arch.
